Lara Belmont sure did pick one hell of a heavy movie in which to make her acting debut. The film in question, The War Zone , which was directed by Tim Roth, didn’t exactly get wide distribution, and to watch it is to understand why. Oh, how far we have moved away from the Cleaver family values! The movie deals with a very dysfunctional family… you can’t even begin to imagine how messed up they really are. OK, here’s how: Lara portrays the daughter, who is repeatedly subjected to sexual encounters by her father and, in the end (of the movie that is), her brother. That being said, there is a great deal of nudity in this flick, including from tawdry Tilda Swinton, who plays the matriarch of the clan. However, taken within the context in which it is given, it is outright disturbing. Keep repeating: “It’s only a movie, it’s only a movie…”
